From 2002 to 2006, The Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust held an Annual Benefit for our
Endowment Fund at The Williams Club in New York City. Because of our inordinately busy schedule last year, we held no Annual Benefit in 2007. This year we are resuming
this event, which will comprise two talks:

Preparing a New Manuscript by Reich

This evening will also include a champagne f๊te with hors d'oeuvres.

WILHELM REICH'S FBI FILE
About eight years ago, Reich's FBI file--comprising approximately 800 pages--became available online at the FBI website, in a section of the website dedicated to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Some time during 2007, a number of people reported to us
that Reich's FBI file had been removed from that website.
Philosophy professor Philip Bennett, Ph.D.--a friend and supporter of The Wilhelm
Reich Infant Trust--recently contacted the FBI to inquire why this file was no longer available online. He received the following reply:
"The answer to your question was received from our Records Management
Division (RMD) but we thought they were going to notify you. It was our
mistake and I am sorry for the delay this has caused.
Wilhelm Reich's file was intentionally taken off the Electronic Reading
Room. Last year, RMD worked closely with the FBI's Historian to
identify files which were either historically valuable or were popular files,
that is more than 3 - 4 requests in the past 3 years. The file in question
didn't make the list, so they removed it from the website."
In a follow-up inquiry, Dr. Bennett asked:
"With regards to the decision to remove Wilhelm Reich's FBI file from
the Electronic Reading Room, may I ask for the date at which time his file
ceased being available. I'm writing an article that references Reich's file
and I would like to be clear about the time it was available, which I believe
was in 2000 and ended recently.
To which he received the following reply:
"Although I cannot give you the exact date that Wilhelm Reich's file was
taken off the Electronic Reading Room, it was late last summer or early fall.
I would like you to know, however, that although it is no longer available
online, you may still receive a paper copy or CD of the information. The
cost of a CD is $15..."
Dr. Bennett has also recently completed a major task that will be helpful to all scholars
and researchers: collating all of the materials in Reich's FBI file into chronological order. The FBI file on Reich--in its electronic and CD format--comprises eight PDF files that
contain two separate categories of information: (1) Personal information about Reich,
and (2) Information about the Orgone Institute and The Wilhelm Reich Foundation.
Consequently, the over-800 pages in this FBI file are not arranged chronologically,
making the study of these materials rather difficult. In addition to putting all of
these pages into chronological order, Dr. Bennett has also included documents
about Reich from the State Department.

ORGONE ENERGY BULLETIN
Volume 5, Numbers 1 and 2 (1953)
NOW AVAILABLE IN OUR BOOKSTORE: $14.00 (94 pages)
In our April 2008 Update we announced that we are now selling bound-Xerox editions
of Orgone Energy Bulletin, Volume 4, Numbers 1,3,4 (1952). We also included a table of contents for these bulletins.
Now available in the Museum Bookstore are bound-Xerox editions of Orgone Energy Bulletin, Volume 5, Numbers 1 and 2 (March 1953).
Up until recently these materials--which were banned and burned in the 1950s by
order of a United States Federal Court--were available only in a handful of university libraries and on microfilm from our bookstore. With an original volume showing up occasionally among used and rare booksellers, or on eBay.
Reich published the Orgone Energy Bulletin from 1949 to 1953. Its five volumes--
comprising over 1200 pages--are unique resources that provide the reader with an
historic appreciation of the development of Reich's work and the contributions of
his students and colleagues in America and Europe. As well as a fascinating look
at some of the organizational details and activities of the Orgone Institute in both
New York City and Rangeley, Maine.
In March 1953, Reich published what would be that year's only issue of the
Orgone Energy Bulletin, as Volume 5, Numbers 1 and 2. This would also be
the last volume of the OEB. In July 1954, Reich would continue publishing a
research bulletin under the new name of C.O.R.E. (Cosmic Orgone Engineering).
In this final volume of the Orgone Energy Bulletin, an Introductory Note on Page 1
explains the reasons for the delay of this publication and why this turned out to
be the last edition:
"The Vol. V, No. 1 issue of the Orgone Energy Bulletin, 1953,
was scheduled to appear during January of the current year.
The great delay in its publication was due to the disruption
of all routine activities at Orgonon in consequence of the
Oranur Experiment. The disruption is so severe that
stopping the publication of this bulletin for one year has
been contemplated. Should such a step become necessary,
we hope that our readers will understand this necessity."
