The Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust's Media Policy
In keeping with our goal which is to promote factually accurate representations of Reich's life and legacy in the public media, we strive to ensure that writers and editors can access and use accurate information. We ask that writers and editors who request our assistance allow the Trust to fact check their work prior to publication whenever possible.
Factual distortions and slanderous statements about Reich's life and legacy are damaging not only to historic truth, but to the reputation of the Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust and the Wilhelm Reich Museum. When discovered, we will challenge such distortions. For example: in Reich's publications it is clearly stated that the orgone energy accumulator is not a cancer cure, nor can patients derive "orgastic potency" from its use. Despite this, misstatements of this nature are frequently repeated in the mainstream media and must be challenged.
With regard to audiovisual media:
- Our property, facilities, and conferences are not material for any third party's personal or professional films/videos. Recordings of our programs may be made with permission only.
- We are open to assisting credible visual artists and documentary filmmakers if we feel their projects are honest, well-researched and have the potential to positively impact the public perception of Reich's life and legacy.
- Requests for assistance from the Trust or permission to film on our property should be made in writing and accompanied by a thorough outline of the project's purpose and planned distribution.
- In determining whether to provide assistance, time constraints will by necessity be a major consideration. In some cases where the cooperation of the Trust is extensive, fees may be charged, and we may insist on the right to check the accuracy of the project prior to release as well as ensure that it conforms with the original proposal.
